How can I measure the waste generated by the event?

Recycling is becoming more common at events.
In the UK your waste contractor is legally obligated to provide you (or the facilities manager) with a Waste Transfer Note, this is a legal document which outlines the types of waste and quantities usually in tonnes. Please ask the venue and accommodation manager to support your sustainability objectives by asking to see these Waste Transfer Notes to calculate the waste generated by the event.
How can I measure the water generated by the event?

Water consumption and water management are key areas for sustainable development
By working with the venue and accommodation provider, please communicate to the relevant facilities manager that you wish to know the water meter figures before and after the event. The difference between the two figures will give you a figure in Meters cubed, you can normalise this figure by dividing it by the numbers of delegates and/or similar.
How can I measure the electricity used for this event?

Wind Energy
By communicating with both the venue and accommodation facilities manager that you wish to know the electricity consumption before and after the event. By asking the facilities manager to read the electricity meter on site both before and after the event to gain the total KiloWatts consumed. This figure can be normalised to the number of delegates on the event and/or similar.
